Apple on Monday March 9th, at a media event in San Francisco announced the launch of its much anticipated Apple watch.
The smart watch, being the company’s first major product released under Tim Cook‘s leadership has received great praise from Apple fans.
It comes in 3 versions; The Apple watch, Apple watch sport and Apple watch edition, targeted at various people from the physical training enthusiast to the fashion conscious man or woman.
Prices range from $349 to $10,000 depending on style. Apple Watch Sport has an anodized aluminum finish, which comes in both space gray and silver. The Watch Sport will come with a rubberized plastic sport band, which is available in different colours.
The Apple Watch is the middle-ground collection of the wearable, with stainless steel casing available in either a shiny polished silver or a glossy ‘space’ black. The stainless steel is paired with a sapphire crystal protective layer covering the display, which should provide additional scratch resistance vs. the basic Watch Sport model.
The Watch Edition either in rose gold or yellow 18-karat gold, which makes it the most expensive, costing over $10,000.
All versions can connect seamlessly with other Apple products like the iPhone and iPad. It also has native apps, chronograph and features found in both analogue and digital smart watch and lets you make calls, read emails, control music and keep up your workout routine.
The downside to me is the watch is rechargeable and the battery lasts for just 18 hours a day, a feature the critics have capitalized on.
Tech reviewers say the watch is overpriced as apart from connecting to its sister devices, it has features which are found in other wristwatches.
One question for you. Will you be buying the Apple watch? Let us know what you think.
