House Cafe: Lekki’s new spot for cool kids (restaurant review)
Sitting right in the heart of Lekki Phase 1 is house cafe Lekki; a new spot that has left a good impression on me.
I usually do not do a lot of restaurant reviews (checkout the few I’ve done here and here) but after myself and a buddy downed a couple of beers on a cool Friday evening, and not wanting to call it a night so early, we decided to hit this new spot that I’ve been observing for a while now.
Located on Victoria Arobieke, from the Admiralty Way entrance sits the modern, beautiful and well designed spot that has a Pizzeria, a Coffee bar and a Restaurant.
Getting to the spot, we headed straight to the Pizzeria but to our disappointment, the place was already full with no free table to accommodate a small party of two.
Disappointed, we headed out; hold on…. not straight home. We decided to checkout the Cafe/Coffee bar on the right wing of the building.
This section immediately felt more cozy. I liked the contemporary decor, the comfortable sitting and true to it’s name there was some good house music playing in the background.
Thankfully, this section wasn’t crowded and we took a high bar table spot where we could view the bar, the outside sitting area and the other dinning area.
What we had
We had the beer punch made of Heineken drought beer, creme de menthe and passionfruit puree also known as the House Cafe signature beer. I liked the minty feel of the mix but it tasted too sweet for beer. It felt more like a cocktail. (Maybe they should call it just that?)
The House Cafe Special Pizza is made of pepperoni, ham, chicken, sausage and egg. It’s a light crust pizza as House Cafe only makes light crust pizza.
We also had the Pepperoni Pizza. Even though our first pizza took a long time to be served (about 30 minutes), we really enjoyed it. The second pizza took about 20 minutes from the time we ordered to the time it was served.
Both pizzas had a certain spicy feel that just hits your taste buds. It also had a very light crunchiness. I didn’t mind.
I didn’t get to checkout the main restaurant but I will return to try out their menu.
My take on the spot?
House Cafe Lekki is a spot where cool kids in Lekki would hang out. It is relatively new but could quickly make our list of top places to meet potential dates in Lagos. It’s ideal for romantic dates, business meetings and birthday parties.
Our bill was approximately N9,500. The prizes for Pizza is fair enough but the drinks? A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Location: 12 Victoria Arobieke, Off Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1.
