The Pepsi Lituation Experience
When Pepsi announced they would be having Dj Brand ambassadors, I knew they had something epic in store for us but I must admit that nothing prepared me for what was about to happen.
Pepsi promised that it would be the littest party of the year and they delivered without a doubt. it was a show that featured turntable magic, special guest performances, special guest appearances, crazy giveaways, and out of this world party. If you were not able to make it for some reason or the other, don’t worry I “gatchu”, this is a breakdown/highlight of what you missed.
The event was hosted at the Balmoral convention center, Federal Palace, Victoria Island. A lot of thought was put into the planning and execution of the event, ensuring that it wouldn’t be a rowdy atmosphere and everybody just seemed to behave themselves at the entrance (might be because of the heavy looking bouncers). As expected there were separate entrances to distinguish regular from VIP with brands such as Smirnoff and Ciroc selling their products just before the entrance to the hall. Provision of drinks was made available for guests as those in the regular section enjoyed free cups of Pepsi while VIP audience had a variety to choose from. The hall was set in a grand manner with lights everywhere and a “brain bursting” stage setting (the thing looked like all those “Obodo Oyinbo” DJ concerts) with screens, cameras and “gbo gbo eh” all over the place.
The turn out was impressive with people trooping in left and right having the entire hall filled hours before the show commenced. With DJs keeping the audience company, it didn’t come as a surprise when people got carried away and started the party without the Pepsi Dj ambassadors.
The show began with a dance presentation by the ever so energetic Kaffy and her crew tearing it up before the Guinness Book of world record holder, Dj Obi hopped on stage with an electrifying performance bordering on different African sounds with guest performances from the legendary cool Dj Jimmy Jatt, Lynx utunu, DJ ECool and DJ Hosea, also paying tribute to the recently deceased European Dj and Producer Avicii (gone but can never be forgotten).
Followed by a Cuppy performance, making a colorful entrance with a drumline theme and cheerleaders, giving us western vibes before centering the stage to drop what can only be described as a Shaku Shaku that went to do masters in the UK bringing on the favorite boy Tekno their hit single “Green Light” afterward.
The big brother cast was brought on stage as a sort of intermission and the crowd went crazy as their favorite housemates were called on stage one by one, Dotun the Hypeman playing the devil’s advocate set off to ask some incriminating questions that got Tobi to declare that he might be in love with Alex and Miracle has feelings for Nina (Bye Bye Collins). Alex got persuaded to burst some moves something she is well known for doing while she was in the house, then Miracle being presented with a cash prize of one million Naira from the organizers as a prize for winning one of the challenges in the house (as if 45 Million isn’t enough).
Dj exclusive the X-factor came up on stage and kept dropping banger after banger bringing back nostalgic memories and throwbacks taking us through the different eras of dance moves making the crowd go crazy. As we all know, this is football and anything can happen, the Legbegbe crooner, Mr. Real hopped on stage and gave life to the audience with his legendary Shaku Shaku.
Tired legs everywhere (I mean we have been dancing for about four hours now, can’t really blame anybody) but The Cap managed to still bring life to the audience with scintillating tunes and amazing guest performances from Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Seyi Shey, bringing the show to an end in a grand manner
Also, did I mention that there were crazy giveaways in between performances? In a bid to show appreciation, Pepsi gave out two iPhone Xs and two handbags containing iPhone Xs and other gift items to four lucky winners. What a way to say Thank you, Pepsi you are truly welcome.
Was an amazing show, had the time of my life, would like to give a big shout out to the Pepsi crew especially those that put the show together, you all did an amazing job, thank you and God bless you.
